Our Charitable Trust Supporting Our Community
Many of our publishers live in their community and serve their community. Many of our publishers also have a community created by their members and subscribers.
Stephens & George are no different.
Our Stephens and George Charitable Trust put our Community at the heart of what we do.
Since the onset of the COVID-19, our Charitable Trust has revised its services and are delivering across the whole of Merthyr Tydfil the following:
• FREE of charge Food Parcels with Fare-share Cymru
• FREE of charge Shopping Service in partnership with Community Payback
• Listening Ear Service with Trained counsellors and volunteers
• Book delivery service and book swap for children
The Stephens and George Charitable Trust has also extended its social media presence through:
o Art Attack Live for children on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
o History Live on a Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
o Chess Tutorials live on a Monday as part of the Charity’s Educational programme.
o Recipe of the day from resident cook Bec Popty.
o Young Persons Creative Writing newsletter. Children can send stories and poems via communitycentre@stephensandgeorge.co.uk which will be published weekly in an online newsletter.
o Online Safety Tips to keep safe in this new era of home learning.
o Daily Authors/celebrities/teachers reading books (e.g. David Walliams, Dan Anthony, Andy Stanton) which are uploaded on our facebook @sgdccentre.
o Free online workshops from key partners such as Shakespeare Trust, Youth Parliament and Dinomania.
o Learning resource information from publishers an our partnership agencies play Wales etc.
o ‘Your book’ places and titles that Children are reading out at home and in their garden.
