Our latest Heidelberg XL106 8 colour
As the world welcomed in 2023, us at Stephens & George welcomed our latest printing press into our state-of-the-art Press Hall.
Our new Heidelberg XL106 8 colour is fitted with the latest 4th generation Cut-Star and is our most recent press investment, underlining our status of having the most modern lithographic Press Hall in Europe.
This press now sits alongside our impressive fleet of two other Heidelberg XL106 8 colours, one Heidelberg XL106 10 colour (also with 4th generation Cut-star) and one Heidelberg XL106 5 colour giving S&G a total of forty printing units. This press was installed and up and running by 27th Jan printing our valued clients’ publications. All our presses have a top speed of 18,000 sheets per hour, it really is an impressive piece of kit.
So, what does this press, and all our presses mean to our clients?
Firstly, utilising Intellistart 3, we can load multiple jobs in advance without interrupting the press performance. This vastly reduces unnecessary downtime.
This also means that our make-ready times are reduced, making our presses extremely productive, efficient, and exceptionally reliable. All our presses are equipped with the very latest Inpress Colour Control 3 and Auto -Plate XL 3, we are now able to demonstrate Autonomous printing with fully automated job change.
Push-to-stop technology, enables us to achieve high Optimum Equipment Efficiency stats and Cut-star technology allows us to gain much higher sheet yield from the reel with the utmost accuracy in sheet size, compared to using standard sheets, we can offer a quick sheet size cut-off change giving far less paper wastage.
In addition to production efficiencies, there are also environmental benefits with our new presses.
They use less IPA and lower energy consumption during production leading to lower CO2 emissions. We also use conventional stay fresh vegetable oil-based inks which makes the printing process environmentally friendly.
